While attending a music festival in Chattanooga, I decided to add-on an extra few days to explore the area– it did not disappoint. One of those add-ons was the ChattaBrunch Food Tour — which was a great way to learn about the city from a local while filling my belly with great food. I highly recommend this tasty tour!
Wanting a centrally located hotel, I picked the Read House which allowed for an easy one mile walk to Adelle’s Creperie, our starting point. The tour began with coffee and a mimosa (best of both worlds at 11am), before being brought two very different but delectable crepes. The tour caters to any allergies so make sure you note it on your reservation. We each were presented with a bacon egg and cheese crepe with Chipotle aioli (a bit of a kick!) and a berry with whipped cream, for the less savory and more sweet side. As we ate our tour guide, Brianna (who was amazing!) talked about the history of Chattanooga and recent efforts to breathe life back into the southside of the city.

Our next stop was at Blue Fox Cheese shop, where we were treated to a small charcuterie plate of grapes, olives, corn nuts, wafer crackers, salami, gherkins, and some of the yummiest cheese! We tried a local beer while another non-drinker on the tour tried a non-alcoholic hopped-seltzer, something for everyone. The cheese monger at Blue Fox talked about her passion for sourcing quality cheese for the shop. They have a fun selection of gifts– jars of olive oils and spreads, specialty crackers and charcuterie boards and cheese knives, etc. There is also a counter for ordering sandwiches and cheese plates to-go. If I lived in Chattanooga I would be in there all the time!
Before our last stop, we hit Hart Gallery and wandered through the exhibit of local artwork. The gallery caters to the homeless and non-traditional artists by supplying material to create the art, as well as offering free art classes at non-profits across the town. The work on display has been curated from those art sessions and available for sale, the money then goes back into the gallery to support their charitable efforts. The art on display is accompanied by the artist’s bio and tells their story. A heartwarming stop on the tour!

More food…
I almost needed to be rolled out of our last stop! So. Much. Food. We ended at the Common House, a social club that offers its paying members a space to dine, work, and relax. House No. 3 was once a YMCA which was restored to its original beauty after sitting empty for a number of years. After a tour of the building, we sat down and enjoyed plate after plate of savory dishes– along with another mimosa (or three). Where do I start? We all shared samples from their current seasonal menu– savory upscale street corn, a flatbread with tomatoes and ricotta, grilled chili steak kabobs, homemade chips with pimento cheese dip, club sandwich, beet and eggplant fettuccini. After all that food, we were offered a nice hot cup of coffee which was needed for motivation after stuffing our faces for the previous few hours. Everything was delicious!
You really can’t go wrong by booking this tour when you visit Chattanooga– and make sure you come on an empty stomach. Each tour can vary depending on the guide or the day so don’t feel like I spoiled it all for you! I am sure your tour will be different but just as great!
